Sister’s Retreat

All the sisters enjoy time together, it’s clear.

For a rest, plus diversion and fun once a year.

At the Hills all agree we’d like something outside,

An equestrian ride all the sisters decide.

When we mounted our horses and held tight the reins,

most all riders went galloping out to the plains.

But the stubborn grey horse just went back to the shade.

I got off the old saddle and gladly he neighed.

Squirrels

Squirrels who like our elms, bellow

warning when a prowler’s present.

Looking after all the fellow

bushy tailed, and large eyed segment.

Agile jumpers, rodent hoarders,

rudely eating all the bird food.

Makes me wonder why our boarders

loudly try to shatter my mood.

[Trochaic Tetrameter]

The Moon

The full celestial moons, the orb aglow,

were given names so many years ago.

A harvest moon in Fall, provides bright light

to farmers glee, so they can plow at night.

A hunters moon, so named because the prey

was easier seen that night, to hunt, and slay.

The waxing crescent lunar phase, inspires

a new beginning, after one retires.

The moon always presents the same bright face,

this sphere it seems, besides its pull, has grace.
